VisualFish's News

I just joined today so I decided, hey, why not make a post. I'll try to keep this nice and short since it is late and I have a very busy day/week ahead of me.

I am VisualFish, aka Karla, and I am just a self taught artist who wants to be an illustrator some day. I am a bit of a hermit, I like to spend my days playing on the 360 with my husband and play with my pets (2 dogs and a cat) and, of course, I love writing and drawing for as long as I can. I need to do something creative everyday or else I feel like I would BLOW UP and DIE... or just feel real real dead.

I love games like Mass Effect and Dead Space, but I have a big interest in the work that goes into 'simpler' games like Undergarden, IloMilo, and even Bejeweled. (I also love older games like Sonic the Hedgehog, and cult games like Threads of Fate.)

But what I really started loving recently are indie games and find them really addictive. I really like playing Castle Crashers, Splosionman, and Binding of Isaac is a recent favorite. I also have an interest in stop-motion animation and 2D flash animation. I really like 3D animation but I am a lot more interested in learning how to use 2D flash programs and perhaps create my own little game someday. Edmund McMillen, creator of Gish and Super Meat Boy (and Binding of isaac) is a big inspiration. When I look at his work or hear about him I think to myself "I want to be like that guy," in that I want to be as dedicated in creating lots of games.

The lack of time prevents me from sitting down, learning new programs and accomplishing a lot that I want to do-- so I am going to be attending community college sometime next year and take animation and drawing classes to polish up my skills and hopefully go down the right path in making games. For now I am writing, writing writing for NaNoWriMo and digging my nose into anatomy books.
